Sven Olof Janson founded Tylo at the age of 20 from his woodshed. Originally named El-spiraler AB, he began by spinning spirals for 
electrical elements.

Sven Olof figured out different uses for tubular elements and invented Piggelin, a heating device designed to provide warmth for breeding animals like pigs and chickens.

To reduce accidental burns and improve in-sauna safety, Tylo developed ThermoSafe™—a protective coating that keeps heater surfaces at a skin-safe temperature. This innovation set a new safety standard across the industry.

Tylo introduced its first steam bath, expanding its wellness offerings beyond saunas. This breakthrough combined smart design with advanced technology, raising the bar industry-wide. Today, features like cloud connectivity and smart 
control panels continue to evolve

With the debut of its first control panel, Tylo brought new ease to sauna sessions. These early panels let users set temperature and time with precision—laying the foundation for today’s innovative, intuitive systems.

Tylo debuted its Combi heater—originally called the Tylarium—combining dry sauna and steam functions in a single unit. This hybrid system offered users the best of both worlds with seamless control. Today, Combi heaters remain a popular choice for Soft Sauna experiences in private homes, while Tylarium systems serve commercial spaces worldwide.

To support rapid growth and innovation, Tylo significantly expanded its manufacturing footprint. With 30,000 square meters of production space, this milestone marked a bold investment in the brand’s future—and the global demand for better 
wellness technology.

Tylo broke new ground by introducing its own infrared saunas, further diversifying its wellness offerings. Built on a foundation of technological innovation, these saunas offered a gentler heat experience while reinforcing Tylo’s role as a forward-thinking leader in the industry.

Tylo launched its 3D Configurator, a powerful digital tool that lets users design and price custom sauna rooms in under 30 minutes. The innovation fast-tracked production and decision-making—today, it supports roughly 80% of all 
sauna builds.

TyloHelo became Sauna360, a unified global identity representing powerhouse brands like Tylo, Helo, Kastor, Finnleo, and Amerec. This move streamlined offerings and expanded reach—bringing high-quality wellness experiences to

In 2023, Tylo launched the first-ever sauna heater with built-in lighting: the floor-standing Crown heater. This breakthrough combined high-performance heating with LED lighting, casting a warm, ambient light across the sauna.
